Findings, Reasons for Findings and Determinations of Architects Tribunals

The Board publishes reports of Tribunals in its newsletter (Information) and in its Annual Report. These reports are summaries of the inquiry and its outcome.

Some years ago the Board decided to also publish the Findings, Reasons for Findings and Determinations of Architects Tribunals on its web site as a service to the public and to the profession. This was prompted by the Board receiving enquiries from architects wishing to know more detail than is contained in the summary reports in the newsletter and the Annual Report. Anyone interested in learning more about the issues which led to Tribunal inquiries, and the reasons for Tribunals’ decisions, could now do so more easily.

The Architects Tribunals are here identified by a number. The first number represents the year in which the complaint which led to the Tribunal was received, and the second number represents number of the complaint itself, e.g. AT: 98/12 represents the Tribunal inquiry arising out of the 12th complaint received in 1998.

At its June 2004 meeting the ARBV decided that, in future, reports of Tribunal outcomes will include the name of the architect concerned if a Tribunal finds that an allegation or allegations against the architect are proved.
This policy came into force from the first Tribunal arising from any complaint received after 1 July 2004.
