Company Approval
From 1 July 2005 there are new, simplified requirements for approval of a company to offer architectural services. (See the section on the Architects Act for details)

The proposed company must comply with Section 11 of the Architects Act 1991 as amended in 2004/05 as follows:

"The Board may approve a company for the purposes of this Act if satisfied that -

  • 1.(a)  the constitution of the company provides that one of the purposes of the company is the practise of architecture; and
  • 2.(b)  at least one director is an architect who is covered by the required insurance.

Applications must be submitted using the Company Approval application form.

Company approval fees are: $400 in total, comprising initial application of $200, plus the annual fee of $200. The annual fee is recurring. These fees are independent of the annual fees paid by the architect Director(s) for their personal registration in Victoria.

Applications are considered by the Board at its monthly meeting.

Maintaining Company Approval

If fees are not paid annually the Act provides for suspension from the Register.

You are required to advise the Board in writing of any change of address or changes to Director(s) within 14 days.

If you require any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact the ARBV office.
